Framedropfilms is an independent film company operating out of Leicester. Its manifesto is “Great films, low cost, have fun”. The company was formed as KillFilm Productions back in 2006 changing to FrameDrop in 2008.
“It’s incredibly hard to be an independent in this day and age, there is always that tight rope of stay creative or get paid. I’ve tried to walk it often falling over into staying creative because that is also happiness. Many thanks.”
Peter Hirst from Refuge approached me after a very hectic night of live film projections for another bands album launch, my nerves were shot! He loved the films I’d put together and wanted to do something for his bands as yet unrecorded music.
After a number of weeks I was handed Refuge’s Changes EP. I was instantly drawn to the song Sometimes for its depth and honesty, instantly I set to work on the video. What I wanted to achieve with the video for Sometimes was to portray the lyrics but add more with the visuals. The theme of the video is family, loss and the passing of time.
Since then I’ve done a number of projects for Refuge including documenting the rehearsal for the album. Although these recordings are rough and unpolished you can hear the songs emerging and confidence within the band building. Refuge has changed over the years but it’s wonderful to see a band grow in front of your eyes.
