In the Black of my mind

Two singles have been released from the album, both featuring lyrics from members of the SISO project. The first single follows the pathway of positive mental health, and is entitled ‘Recovery.’ Released on the 1st of June 2010, the lyrics were originally written as poem by Stuart Snowden,  which has been used as the opening piece of the SISO toolkit which was designed specifically to support and aid those in need.

Leicester based youth organisation Soft Touch (whose mission is to use the arts to offer people with limited opportunities the chance to work together to affect positive change for themselves and their communities) have been producing the artwork for the project. Gregory Whitaker developed and produced the first piece of artwork for the first single 'Recovery' to be released from the album 'Allowed a Voice'.

Jeannine Nield has written the lyrics for the second single ‘In the Black of My Mind’ which was released on 1st July 2010. This song focuses on the deep and darker side of depression, highlighting the issues which can be faced by those who suffer, and the challenges they encounter.

Jack Girling of the Soft Touch youth arts group developed the image for the second single 'In the Black of my Mind'. All of the work from Soft Touch had been to such a high standard that it had made it very difficult to choose just one piece. Refuge and SISO would like to say a huge thankyou for all the hard work that Soft Touch has placed in to the project so far.

These singles additionally feature original poems as the B sides, and are available for download from ITunes and Amazon from June 2010. Costs for download are not fixed, But donations are welcome using the paypal button on the side of these pages , all money raised will be donated to charity and split equally between SISO and Mind. The songs are also available free of charge on the 'free downloads' page to those who are not able to donate to this charitable cause.
